Let’s cover a more amusing story, shall we? According to a marketing employee at developer Team Cherry, Hollow Knight: Silksong is, in fact, “real.” and will be released. Er, eventually. Like, in 30 years, maybe?
Yes the game is real, progressing and will release. ❤

“Yes the game is real, progressing and will release. <3” wrote Matthew Griffin in response to a desperate fan who just wanted to know if the game was still happening or if it had been cancelled.
This latest wave of Silksong desire came after fans got excited about a picture of cake. I kid you not, dear reader.
Hollow Knight co-creator William Pellen changed his social media profile picture to a rather tasty slice of cake. A quick reverse Google search led to fans discovering that the cake was from a recipe posted on 2nd April 2024, exactly one year ahead of when Nintendo will hold an event showing off the Switch 2. This led to speculation that Silksong might be releasing alongside the Switch 2, or somehow be shown off at the event. The same account posted up on January 16 that “something big is coming, keep your eyes closed.”
However, the account regularly posts absolute nonsense.
Excitement was quickly turned into dismay when Youtuber Fireborn posted that Team Cherry’s Leth, who is the same Matthew Griffin from above, apparently reached out to inform him that the cake means nothing.
