Microsoft’s latest financial report contains plenty of interesting details about the company’s Xbox division, including a fairly substantial boost in Game Pass subscribers on PC. But buried within the lengthy report was a single sentence that finally gives us a glimpse at how well Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has performed.
According to Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft, Indy’s latest adventure has done quite well.
Coming off of discussing the success of Black Ops 6, Nadella had this to say: “And we saw rave reviews of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, which has already been played by more than 4 million people.”
After three amazing movies, Indy is finally back starring in a 4th adventure. Despite being over 35 years since the last movie (Fight me) this new adventure from MachineGames makes it feel like it was yesterday!
Of course, “played” is the important word here as Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was available on Game Pass from day 1. The topic of actual sales numbers was never brought up, but considering game sales are typically very low on Xbox hardware these days it seems safe to assume that the vast majority of those 4m people were on Game Pass.
We also learned that Game Pass had its highest ever revenue draw this last quarter. While that was probably almost entirely because of Black Ops 6 launching, at least a tiny bit of the success can be attributed to Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. At least, I hope it can be because that game is bloody awesome.
The next daring adventure for Indy will occur this year when the game launches on PlayStation 5 which could potentially result in millions of sales.
And don’t forget, it was reported that Disney were so pleased with the game that they picked up the phone to discuss more projects.
