Water is known to be a great resource for good health, but sparkling water could also offer unique benefits.A new report, published in BMJ Nutrition, Prevention and Health, suggests that carbonated water may support weight loss by enhancing glucose uptake and metabolism in red blood cells. The researchers aimed to analyze the physiological effects of carbonated water, as it has been found to induce satiety (feelings of fullness) and gastric motility (movement of food through the body), both of which could reduce hunger.KELLY RIPA SAYS QUITTING ALCOHOL HAD A SURPRISING EFFECT ON HER WEIGHTIn analyzing a study from 2004, the team…

Tsukuba Circuit is hallowed ground in the time attack world, but for most enthusiasts outside Japan, the dream of hitting this iconic track in real life remains just that – a dream. Researchers at Cornell University on Monday showcased a pair of bio-inspired robotics running on a hydraulic fluid-powered battery. The redox flow battery (RFB) also mimics biological functions, as it releases electrolytic fluids, which dissolve to create energy through chemical reaction. The first two robots on display are a modular worm and a jellyfish, designed by the Cornell Engineering labs. The batteries powering these systems utilize embodied energy, “an approach that incorporates power sources into the body of a machine, to reduce its weight and cost,” according to the school. Mechanical and aerospace engineering Professor Rob Shepherd describes the underlying technology…
